Case Study 2: The Brickmakers

Supporting The Brickmakers’ Journey: Website Development & Rebranding for Local Success

When Claire and Dale Brooks took over The Brickmakers in January 2023, they wanted to make a bold statement as the new landlady and landlord of this iconic Norwich pub. To help them establish a strong online presence, I had the pleasure of working with them on their rebranding and creating a new website for the venue.

A key element of the rebranding was the new logo, which they already had the concept for. I assisted them in finalising the design and provided it in a format they could use across multiple formats. This logo now serves as a strong brand identifier for The Brickmakers and is featured on all their communications, staff shirts and promotional materials. Claire found my input particularly valuable during this process, and the result is a design that reflects the pub’s bold new identity while remaining rooted in its musical offering.

As part of the project, I also built a website that allows Claire to easily promote events, manage bookings and engage with the local community. The website has made a huge impact in streamlining event promotion, as well as managing enquiries. Claire regularly uses it to list gigs, share details about charity and community events and provide information for bands playing at the pub.

One of the key benefits of the website is that it saves Claire a significant amount of time, as she can now direct people asking about gig listings to the site rather than handling email queries.

She also appreciates how easy it is to update and manage content on the site, thanks to the training I provided on how to use the back end after launch. Claire also uses the website to promote regular events and community activities that support local charities, further strengthening The Brickmakers’ role as a community hub.

In addition to the website, I helped Claire set up email for the pub’s domain, streamlining communications and ensuring a professional and cohesive digital presence.

My partner and I took over at The Brickmakers in January 2023. We were keen to put our own stamp on the venue, so I asked Judi-mae to assist with our marketing and website. Judi-mae was very easy to work with, she set up our website for us, and gave us training on how to keep it up to date. We also asked her to help with the initial rebranding, her input into our new logo was very useful. I would, and have, recommended her services to others.

As a business owner and a huge supporter of local venues, I was thrilled to work with Claire and Dale on this project. It was an exciting time for the local music scene and I loved helping them create a digital space that showcases all the amazing events they host.
