#15 – Building a Strong Online Presence

📳💻🖱

Since it’s such a passion of mine, we talk a lot about digital marketing. Today I thought instead of being specific about *one* type of digital marketing, I’d write a summary of the best parts of it to invest time into in to help build a robust business presence.

Here are ten essential tips to help you establish and grow your online footprint across various channels:

1️⃣  Define Your Keyword Lists:

Start by creating a core list of main keywords and other specific lists for different areas of focus. This will guide your content creation, SEO strategy and PPC campaigns.

2️ Develop Engaging Website Content:

Write content that is useful and interesting to your audience. Use keywords effectively and ensure your pages and / or posts are of a good length to improve SEO. High-quality content can also drive engagement on social media and email marketing.

3️ Optimise Your Website:

Ensure your website is user-friendly, mobile-responsive and fast. This includes optimising page layouts, understanding the user journey and writing effective title tags, as well as ensuring a seamless user experience.

4️ Leverage Social Media:

Social media platforms are powerful tools for driving traffic and engagement. Regularly share your content, interact with your audience and use social media advertising to reach a broader audience.

5️ Email Marketing:

Building an email subscriber list is a great way to maintain engagement with your audience. Offer valuable content and incentives to capture email addresses and keep your subscribers informed with regular updates.

6️ Invest in PPC Advertising:

Pay-per-click (PPC) advertising can drive targeted traffic to your website quickly. Run targeted ads to reach your audience with precision and jump ahead of your competition.

7️ Utilise Analytics:

Regularly monitor your online presence and performance using tools like Google Analytics, social media insights and email marketing reports. Adjust your strategies based on data and feedback.

8️ Engage in Public Relations:

Getting your brand name out there and capturing the attention of the press can significantly boost your online presence and drive online visitors. Build relationships with journalists and create compelling press releases.

9️ Consistent Branding:

Maintain consistent branding across all online platforms. This includes your website, social media profiles and email marketing. Consistency helps build trust and recognition.

🔟 Plan a Content Calendar:

Being organised is crucial, especially when you’re managing multiple marketing channels. Plan your content in advance with a content calendar to ensure regular and timely updates across your blog, social media and email campaigns.

Building a strong online presence takes time and effort, but with these tips, you’ll be well on your way to creating a lasting impact!

#14 – How to Launch a Business

🚀🤔🎉

This week, I’m sharing something a bit more personal – tips on how to launch a business, based on my journey of becoming a marketing consultant. I hope it can inspire those of you considering launching your own businesses.

1️⃣ Find Your Passion:

My journey started with a deep passion for human psychology, communications, technology and marketing. I also loved the idea of helping businesses grow and reach their potential. Passion will keep you going! 💪🏻

2️⃣ Gain Experience:

Before launching Mae Day Marketing, I studied for a degree in business & IT and worked in various marketing roles, gaining valuable experience and learning skills. Hands-on industry time is crucial.

3️⃣ Build Your Network:

Networking played a huge role in my success, especially initially. Attending events, joining business groups and connecting with other professionals opened doors and created opportunities.

4️⃣ Plan Your Brand:

Creating a strong brand personality for Mae Day Marketing was essential. Your brand should reflect your values and resonate with your target audience: it’s about creating a memorable identity that stands out.

5️⃣ Stay Organised:

Starting out as a self-employed consultant can be nerve-wracking. Staying organised with your time, tasks and finances is key to managing the workload and maintaining your sanity.

6️⃣ Continuous Learning:

The marketing world is constantly evolving. I committed to continuous learning through courses, certifications and staying updated with industry trends to ensure I could offer the best to my clients.

7️⃣ Take the Leap:

I had the dream for years before I did it. It took three consecutive redundancies for me to finally take the leap into self-employment. It wasn’t easy, but taking that step was life-changing. Sometimes, you just have to trust yourself and go for it!

8️⃣ Overcome Challenges:

There’s always something. The pandemic, for example, was a significant challenge to my businesses, the field that is notorious for being ‘the first to go’. However, perseverance and adaptability helped me navigate it and come out stronger.

9️⃣ Celebrate Your Wins:

Winning awards and recognition has been incredibly rewarding for me most recently. Celebrating these milestones keeps me motivated and reminds me of how far I’ve come 🥰

🔟 Stay Grateful:

Gratitude has been a powerful tool in my journey. Being grateful for what I have achieved so far inspires me to aim higher and keeps me grounded.

Becoming a marketing consultant has been one of the most rewarding decisions of my life. If you’re considering this path, or the path to self-employment in any other way – remember that it’s a journey filled with learning, growth and amazing opportunities 👑

#8 – Reputation Management

🤝🗣💭

In today’s digital age, your online presence plays a pivotal role in shaping your brand’s reputation and influencing consumer perceptions. Here are ten essential tips to help you effectively manage and grow your reputation online:

1️⃣ Audit Your Existing Online Presence:

Start by conducting a comprehensive audit of your online presence. Do you have a website and social media profiles? What comes up on a Google search of your brand and key products or services? Are there any other online platforms where your business is represented?

2️⃣  Invest in a Great Website:

A website is basically your digital shop window: a well-designed site should offer visitors a glimpse into your brand and its offerings, while also serving as a hub for information, customer testimonials and where possible, transactions and interactions.

3️⃣ Harness Social Media:

Select and deploy social media platforms and strategies that align with your brand’s objectives, enabling you to engage with your audience effectively and attract potential new customers who are online researching your industry, services or products.

4️⃣ Optimise Your Social Media Selection:

Be discerning when choosing social networks, prioritising those that resonate with your target audience and align with your brand’s image and objectives. Dedicate your resources to platforms where your audience is most active.

5️⃣ Monitor Online Reviews:

Regularly monitor online reviews across various platforms such as Google Business Profile, Yell, the social networks, TrustPilot and industry-specific review sites. Address both positive and negative reviews promptly and professionally.

6️⃣ Encourage Positive Reviews:

Actively encourage satisfied customers to leave positive reviews and testimonials about your business. Make it easy for them by providing clear instructions on how to leave a review on your preferred platforms.

7️⃣ Be Transparent and Authentic:

Build trust with your audience by being transparent and authentic in your communications. Share behind-the-scenes glimpses, respond honestly to inquiries and admit mistakes if / when they occur.

8️⃣ Leverage Search Engine Marketing:

Invest in Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and / or Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising to enhance your visibility on search engines, driving more qualified traffic to your website and boost your online leads and sales.

9️⃣ Maintain Your Google Business Profile:

Keep your Google Business Profile (previously Google My Business, also known as ‘Google Maps Listings’) up to date with accurate information, enticing visuals, and regular updates to ensure visibility in local search results and provide valuable information to potential customers.

🔟 Stay Consistent:

Consistency is key to maintaining a positive online reputation. Stay true to your brand values, messaging, and customer service standards across all online channels.
