#20 – SEO Dos and Don’ts

Jul 24, 2024Jul 24, 2024 Judi-mae Alderton - Mae Day Marketing

📈🔍📉

Welcome to this week’s Wisdom Wednesday post. It’s all about SEO this week – especially as I am finishing up a big SEO project. In fact, I wrote 175 meta descriptions and page titles for a client this week – phew! 😅 After yesterday’s post, I thought it would be useful to expand upon the essential Dos and Don’t of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).

Here are the best practices and common pitfalls to be aware of:

✅1️⃣ DO: Get to know your audience through research – Understand who your audience is, what they search for and how they behave online. This will help to ensure your content is relevant and engaging.

✅2️⃣ DO: Develop a content strategy – Create a diverse and consistent content plan that aligns with your brand and audience interests.

✅3️⃣ DO: Identify and keep track of keywords – Research and monitor the keywords that are most relevant to your industry and audience.

✅4️⃣ DO: Plan and schedule your content – Consistency is key. Plan and schedule content to ensure a steady flow of fresh, relevant material that keeps your audience engaged and the search engines happy.

✅5️⃣ DO: Establish measurable success indicators – Set clear, measurable goals for your SEO efforts. Track metrics like key rankings, organic traffic, bounce rate and conversion rates to gauge your success.

❌6️⃣ DON’T: Ignore the current competitive landscape – Keep an eye on what your competitors are doing. Understand their strengths and weaknesses to identify opportunities for your own SEO strategy.

❌7️⃣ DON’T: Expect immediate results/success – SEO is a marathon, not a sprint! It takes time to see significant results, so be patient and persistent with your efforts.

❌8️⃣ DON’T: Stick to just one campaign strategy – Be flexible and ready to adapt your strategies. SEO trends and algorithms change, so staying agile will help you stay ahead.

❌9️⃣ DON’T: Forget your brand values and voice – Maintain a consistent brand voice and values in all your content. This builds trust and recognition with your audience.

❌🔟 DON’T: Spam your audience – Avoid keyword stuffing and low-quality content. Focus on providing value to your audience with high-quality, relevant information.

#19 – Designing an Amazing Logo

Jul 17, 2024 Judi-mae Alderton - Mae Day Marketing

💡🌈🌟

Welcome to this week’s Wisdom Wednesday post. Today, we are focusing on the essential elements of creating a logo. A well-designed logo is crucial for establishing a brand’s identity and making a lasting impression on customers.

Here are some key factors to consider when designing a logo:

1️⃣ Understand Your Brand Mission:

Your logo should reflect the core mission of your brand. Define what your business stands for and what you aim to achieve. This clarity will guide your design choices.

2️⃣ Define Your Brand Ethos:

Consider the values and principles that your brand embodies. These should be subtly conveyed through the design elements of your logo, resonating with your audience on a deeper level.

3️⃣ Identify Your Brand Personality:

Determine the personality traits you want your brand to express. Whether it’s professional, playful, innovative or traditional, your logo should visually communicate these characteristics.

4️⃣ Choose Appropriate Hues:

Colours have psychological impacts and can evoke specific emotions. Select a colour palette that aligns with your brand personality and mission. Ensure the colours are versatile and work well across different mediums.

5️⃣ Select the Right Fonts:

Typography plays a significant role in logo design. Choose fonts that complement your brand’s tone. Ensure they are legible and scalable, maintaining clarity across various sizes and formats.

6️⃣ Incorporate Style and Imagery:

Decide on the style of your logo – modern, classic, minimalist or elaborate. If you use imagery or symbols, make sure they are relevant and easily recognisable, adding value to your logo’s message.

7️⃣ Keep It Simple and Memorable:

Aim for simplicity. A clutter-free logo is more likely to be remembered and easily recognised. Strive for a design that is clean yet impactful.

8️⃣ Ensure Versatility:

Your logo should be adaptable to different contexts – whether it’s on a business card, website or even a shop front. Test your design in various sizes and backgrounds to ensure it remains effective.

9️⃣ Seek Feedback and Refine:

Share your logo concepts with a few trusted individuals or potential customers to gather feedback. Use their insights to refine and improve your design.

🔟 Stay True to Your Brand:

Above all, ensure your logo stays true to your brand’s essence. It should be a visual representation of your brand’s story, values and goals.

Creating a logo is a foundational step in building a strong brand identity. Take the time to craft a design that truly represents your brand, and it will serve as a powerful tool in your marketing strategy.

Best wishes on your logo design journey! As always, if you need assistance with your branding or marketing efforts, feel free to reach out! 👑
