Welcome to this week’s Wisdom Wednesday post. Itās all about SEO this week ā especially as I am finishing up a big SEO project. In fact, I wrote 175 meta descriptions and page titles for a client this week ā phew! š After yesterdayās post, I thought it would be useful to expand upon the essential Dos and Donāt of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).
Here are the best practices and common pitfalls to be aware of:
ā 1ļøā£ DO: Get to know your audience through research – Understand who your audience is, what they search for and how they behave online. This will help to ensure your content is relevant and engaging.
ā 2ļøā£ DO: Develop a content strategy – Create a diverse and consistent content plan that aligns with your brand and audience interests.
ā 3ļøā£ DO: Identify and keep track of keywords – Research and monitor the keywords that are most relevant to your industry and audience.
ā 4ļøā£ DO: Plan and schedule your content – Consistency is key. Plan and schedule content to ensure a steady flow of fresh, relevant material that keeps your audience engaged and the search engines happy.
ā 5ļøā£ DO: Establish measurable success indicators – Set clear, measurable goals for your SEO efforts. Track metrics like key rankings, organic traffic, bounce rate and conversion rates to gauge your success.
ā6ļøā£ DON’T: Ignore the current competitive landscape – Keep an eye on what your competitors are doing. Understand their strengths and weaknesses to identify opportunities for your own SEO strategy.
ā7ļøā£ DON’T: Expect immediate results/success – SEO is a marathon, not a sprint! It takes time to see significant results, so be patient and persistent with your efforts.
ā8ļøā£ DON’T: Stick to just one campaign strategy – Be flexible and ready to adapt your strategies. SEO trends and algorithms change, so staying agile will help you stay ahead.
ā9ļøā£ DON’T: Forget your brand values and voice – Maintain a consistent brand voice and values in all your content. This builds trust and recognition with your audience.
āš DON’T: Spam your audience – Avoid keyword stuffing and low-quality content. Focus on providing value to your audience with high-quality, relevant information.
