✍️🛠📃
Today, we’re going to focus in more on SEO as it is a subject many businesses are interested in. Unlike PPC where you have to bid on keywords, effectively paying for website traffic – SEO does not cost money, if you do it yourself. You will have to invest some time into it, or appoint somebody else to, but all in all, the results aren’t related to a cost-per-click model.
As such, investing into a good strategy or a great consultant to manage your activity can reap rewards in a very cost effective way! 🙌
So, without further ado: Post #11 – Writing Great Content for SEO!
1️⃣ Define Your Keyword List(s):
Start by defining your keyword strategy. Create a core list of main terms and additional lists for specific areas of focus. Understanding your keywords is the foundation of effective content creation.
2️⃣ Decide Your Content Areas:
Determine the areas of content you’ll focus on – whether it’s expanding content on existing website pages, expanding website sections with new pages, or maintaining an ongoing blog or news area.
Once you know where and what you will be writing, it’s down to the content details:
3️⃣ Write Content For a Good Reason:
When writing content for SEO, prioritise usefulness, interest and keyword integration. Ensure your content provides valuable information or addresses the needs and interests of your target audience, incorporating relevant keywords naturally. Aim for an optimal length that provides sufficient information while maintaining reader engagement and readability.
4️⃣ Craft Keyword Relevant Page Titles:
Title tags are HTML elements that specify the title of a webpage. They appear as the clickable headline in search engine results and are crucial for SEO. Crafting descriptive and keyword-rich title tags not only helps search engines understand the content of your page but also entices users to click through to your website.
5️⃣ Write Great Meta Descriptions:
Meta descriptions should be written for all pages using keywords from a relevant keyword list. Keep them between 150–160 characters and make sure they are directly relevant to the page they describe, unique from the descriptions of all of the website’s other pages.
6️⃣ Optimise Heading Tags:
Heading Tags (H1, H2 etc) are HTML tags that indicate a heading on a webpage and they are very important for SEO and a major ranking factor. Make sure within text Heading Tags are used effectively – with important keywords – as well as in the correct hierarchical order going down the page.
7️⃣ Cleverly use Keywords in URLs:
Wherever you can, use relevant keywords for each page in the page’s address or URL. This will directly show the search engines what the page’s content is all about.
8️⃣ Optimise Anchor Text:
Incorporate relevant keywords in anchor text (the visible text on a page used for a link). This helps search engines understand the context of your content and improves the user experience.
9️⃣ Make Sure to Include Internal Links:
Internal links are a great opportunity for SEO as they knit content together and make it more likely a search engine will visit and thus index all pages of a site. It also gives pages added keyword relevance.
🔟 Measure, Evaluate, Repeat:
As with everything you invest time into, continuously measure the effectiveness, evaluate results from website changes and roll out more changes when things work well.
As I’ve said before, SEO is a journey, not a destination. Take your time, be strategic, follow the steps and watch your online presence flourish! 📈📈📈
